Wednesday

First, let me express all of our family’s gratitude to those of you who have taken the time during this busy season to come and sit with us and visit with Mom.  We are so fortunate to be able to spend time with you, and I know that it is so meaningful for you to visit Mom.

I think that Mom is mostly very comfortable now, and we are taking pains to be sure that we don’t annoy her with unnecessary pokings and proddings.  Sometimes she seems to be in an uncomfortable position, and the staff at the Mather is quick to move her around to an easier spot. She has music playing, of all kinds, and a steady stream of friends and family at her bedside. On Monday night the book group came and carolled for her.

Please don’t hesitate to come and visit if you wish, or send messages through your comments.  We relay them to Mom. And we appreciate all of your thoughts about her.

  1. To the Deutsch family:
My name is Mary Gleason and I am a sales counselor at The Mather. I was not your mom’s sales counselor, but I have gotten to know her over the last 2 years and absolutely adore her. She is bright, but direct, has a wonderful sense of humor, and is someone I could always talk to whether I was having a good day or a bad day at my job. She helped me educate many of my prospects on the concept of a Continuing Care Community, in particular the Mather Community and always did it with truth and humor. Tasha gave so much to all of us at The Mather. I feel so fortunate to have known her and so grateful for the laughs and cousel she provided. Thank you all so much for sharing these past weeks with us. I cannot even imagine how difficult this must be. I am so glad that she is surrounded by so many that love her.

  2. For those who know me, I was one of those “strays” that Tasha liked to take under her wing. I spent much of my high school period doing fun and wonderful things at the Deutsch residence as I was Judy’s shadow and unofficial family member. Tasha and Bill made me feel right at home—with everything that means! I was able to thank Tasha for her love and warmth in a very special visit this past Tuesday night—we reminisced about Bill falling asleep while floating in the pool on his back, Josie’s evening call for “dinno!”—which I still do at my own home–and many other little tidbits that still bring joy to my heart.

I cried and felt her warmth even now. You are an amazing woman Tasha. What an honor and privilege it has been being your “honorary” daughter. And though I will miss you, you will NEVER be far from my heart….thank you for everything. With 44 years of love and counting—Sharon

  3. It is good to hear that many are stopping by to offer warmth and love to Tasha. It is comforting to know that she is well cared for at Mather, and that you feel good about the staff care she is getting. Art sends his good wishes from warm and sunny Florida. And we send our love and best wishes to all of you.

  4. Dear Tom and Judy,
We are glad to hear that your mother is comfortable at the Mather. Is there anything that we can do for you? Love…Tom and Marcia
